About me

Hello! My name is Lauren Baildon and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in upstate New York. I have been a practicing therapist for the past 8 years and enjoy the continual learning and healing process when working with clients.
I graduated from State University at Albany's School of Social Welfare in 2013 and since then, have worked in a wide range of therapeutic settings including: inpatient psychiatric hospitalizations, outpatient mental health, community-based services, and private practice. I enjoy working with a variety of client populations including children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have experience working with clients affected by trauma, depression, anxiety, LGBTQ issues, childhood behavioral issues, phase of life difficulties, and relationship challenges. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities that include: Dialectical Behavioral (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). Most recently, I’ve been training and practicing with EMDR. It is a phased focused approach to treating symptoms that allows for the natural healing powers of the brain by reconnecting you to images, self-thoughts, emotions, and body sensations associated with your present symptoms. I am excited about this new modality and the benefits that clients and clinicians alike have both described.
As a clinician, I like to get to know you, your history, and your life circumstances that contribute to your current distress. We will identify your values and beliefs that guide your decisions and determine fulfillment and explore some possible solutions. Throughout sessions, we will focus on exploring your current coping skills and developing additional skills to manage distress. I am also a big believer in exploring and expanding on your current personal strengths!
It takes tremendous strength and vulnerability to reach out for help and I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship is essential for facilitating change. I welcome questions, feedback, and opinions to improve your experience in this therapeutic relationship. I look forward to working with you!
Sincerely,
Lauren Baildon, LCSW
