Lauren Kurstin, LMFT
About me
Are you dealing with relationship issues? Life transitions? Coping/stress management difficulties? Marital conflict? Generally overwhelmed? You've come to the right place! My name is Lauren Kurstin and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I obtained my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from the University of Miami in 2012 and have been seeing clients ever since!
I always aim to provide a warm, confidential, and inviting atmosphere where you can express yourself freely while working towards your goals. I believe you already have the resources you need to be your greatest self, individually as well as relationally. I want to help you break free from old habits, develop healthy coping skills, and find effective ways to respond to life’s challenging situations. Change is possible!
My expertise and true passion surround working with individuals struggling with relationship/marital conflict and/or those going through difficult life transitions. I implement mindfulness techniques, cognitive behavioral tools, and solution-focused methods within my practice.
I know that opening your soul to a stranger requires a great leap of faith. My number one priority is to make you feel safe and heard throughout the process. It is essential to me that we build a genuine connection based on absolute comfort, partnership, and trust! Sometimes it's necessary to laugh :) There is no judgment or bias coming from my end... just pure empathy, warmth, and a calming voice to help you uncover your strengths, and guide you to reach each one of your goals. I know it takes great courage to reach out for that extra support...way to go! I am here for you! :)

After several months of working with Lauren, I feel stronger and yet we still uncover things every week. I appreciate her warmth, care, and also how she knows just the right time to challenge me and push me to go deeper.

Dr. Lauren is amazing! Such a calm guiding influence, she's such an expert in knowing how to frame things for me and making me an expert about my own mind.

Lauren is a great listener. I wasn't looking for any specific answers coming to therapy sessions. She validates my feelings and show compassion for my situation. I am certainly learning new angles from her to reevaluate my situations differently and have been trying to inject more positive thoughts when I come across the same struggle.

Lauren has been so helpful to me, she feels like a really incredibly knowledgeable friend who is always there to listen and provide feedback. As my life has moved out of crisis, she has always been ready to tackle the next thing I want to improve, and I value that so highly - in the past, I've had a therapist suggest that once I was out of crisis I no longer needed them. The therapy relationship has become a real support for me through all of life's highs and lows, and I really appreciate the space Lauren always makes for me in her own busy life!

Lauren has been working with me for a short period of time but I completely trust her. And she has helped me in so many ways already.
