About me

I am a clinical social worker licensed in the state of Mississippi and in Virginia. I have over 5 years of experience in social work practice. I have experience helping people cope with adjustment related anxiety and depression, chronic health conditions, relationship problems, grief, and planning for end of life care. Some of the populations I have worked with include children and families involved in the court system, military service members and cancer patients.

I have been told that I am a good listener and a calming presence and I love learning new things from my clients. I meet every person with compassion, an open mind, and support without judgement. I have a deep appreciation for the strengths and attributes that are unique to all of us. I seek to create a therapeutic environment that feels safe, encouraging and at times, humorous. I combine a variety of approaches to best suit your individual needs including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, solution-focused and person-centered. My perspective as a social worker includes viewing each client as a whole person and looking at multiple aspects of your life which may be contributing to your current emotional experience.

In addition to my previous experience and approaches listed above, I have recently begun working towards obtaining post graduate degree certification in veterinary social work. I recognize the unique relationship between people and their companion animals. I look forward to supporting clients in their grief and loss of their animal family members. Our pets take up a very special place in our lives and the pain that often follows the loss of our companion animals is often overlooked or dismissed. I can provide a safe supportive relationship to work through that pain.

I appreciate the opportunity to partner with you during this vulnerable time in your life. Starting therapy can be a little scary, especially if this a new experience for you. You have made the first step in taking action to promote positive changes in your life. I look forward to partnering with you in this process and encourage you to ask questions and feedback regarding how I may best support you.

Leanna is fantastic! I’ll admit to being skeptical of this online counseling platform which is different for me. I’ve been blown away by how professional and helpful Leanna and the platform is to use. Leanna has a calming presence about her truly cares for her clients and responds quickly with a ton of additional resources and questions to consider outside of the sessions. I have been doing counseling nearly all my life and surprisingly this has been the best overall experience by far.

Never in all my years did I think I would be able to open up to someone in this manor to help myself. If you’re still unsure of this online resource, or want a counselor who will change your life, she’s a life saver. Take my word.
