About me

My name is Lee Smith. I am a licensed clinical social worker who also holds a master of divinity that lives and practices in Atlanta, Georgia. During the last two decades I have worked within affirming churches and ministries with populations that have been marginalized by the greater population. In 2006 I expanded my training through working in hospitals clinics day programs and insurance companies. In those settings I used cognitive behavioral, reality-based and humanistic therapies while working with persons with serious and persistent mental illness and provided therapy to individuals, couples, and families. As I considered private practice I wanted my focus to help fill the gaps within the behavioral health services in the metro Atlanta area. As an African-American male therapist I think it was important to specialize in working with African-American men, adolescents couples and members of the LGBTQ community. While I can work with most populations, I felt that this population was underserved and may benefit from having a dedicated African-American male therapist.
