About me

I am 64 year old female and I have been providing therapy for31 years. I received my bachelor's degree in English and waited about 10 years before returning to get my Master's in Social Work. Just prior to grad school, I received a grant and started and ran a Sexual Assault/Abuse hotline and concurrent prevention program in the schools. I then completed school and worked at a mental health center for 2 years, whereupon I received my state license. I have worked in a variety of settings from my office, schools, courts, probation/police/jail offices, and hospitals, as well as receiving referrals from those sources as well as doctors, ministers, child care workers and others. I practice in a small town so have been involved in many community programs, some of which are geared to mental health. I love to work with people, hence my practice and community involvement. I believe the most important aspect of a counseling relationship to be that of building trust and rapport, as making change is often anxiety producing and needs much support and encouragement. I stay present with my clients, building that safe space to address underlying feelings and fears, and utilizing various techniques including mindfulness and cognitive behavioral techniques to move past obstacles. I have retained some clients that have continued to see me for over 10 years, on and off, as their lives have changed and other struggles presented themselves. My belief is that the relationship built with a client is an opportunity and a privilege; a client opening up about their lives is of tremendous significance and I handle each of those relationships with care. My goal is to help clients find that peace of mind and joy that eludes them when underlying issues cloud their view.

Leslie is absolutely the best therapist I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. She has helped me learn how to better cope with things I’m going through then I’ve ever been able to before. I genuinely feel as though she cares about me and respects me. I could not recommend her more.
