About me

I believe everyone deserves a safe place to share life’s challenges, and enjoy working together with a client to sort out those challenges and achieve goals. Seeking growth through vulnerability and identifying strengths guides my practice. My approach to therapy is holistic, behavioral, humanistic, and psychodynamic, with a touch of humor and a lot of compassion thrown in, and is consistent with client-centered therapy, while incorporating cognitive behavioral techniques. These evidence-based techniques have been shown to provide immediate relief from negative thought patterns.

I have worked as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Counselor, where I have been able to help people increase their personal well-being and self-esteem, while decreasing negative mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, and negative self-talk. Previously, I worked as an addictions counselor and mental health professional in an outpatient substance use treatment center. My clinical experience includes working with a wide range of issues such as PTSD, personality disorders, grief and loss, substance use disorders, anxiety, stress management, depression, trauma, interpersonal issues, transitional issues, low self-esteem, and crisis management. I have specialized experience with people who have emotional, behavioral, and cognitive problems, as well as serious and persistent mental illnesses.

Liisa has been the best therapist I’ve ever had. We clicked right off the bat and I’ve made more progress with her than I have in 20 years!

Great therapist, down to earth and casual. She’s very knowledgeable and shares helpful resources, and really knows what she’s talking about. Friendly, genuine, and would remember things I previously mentioned. A great match for someone who likes facts and detailed explanations, she was able to answer all my questions. My favorite part is it felt more like a conversation than say a meeting with a doctor, allowing me to open up more and be comfortable.
