About me

Hello! My name is Lin Li and I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker from State of Washington. I have been providing direct psychotherapy and crisis de-escalation services to individuals and families for over 10 years. I have worked with diverse population who struggle with various of issues such as depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation and self harm, anger, grief, trauma, interpersonal conflicts and relationship issues etc.

In my practice, I value the moments when clients share their personal stories- their struggles, challenges, sadness, as well as happiness, fun and success. During the story telling, I walk with clients to explore and connect with their parts and inner selves to better understand themselves and create experiences of peacefulness and self-appreciation. I’m also a believer and practitioner of mindfulness. Mindfulness to me is more than just a skill, it is a way of living our lives- without being constantly judging ourselves and others, which, as result, could create unhealthy negative energies. I would be delighted to introduce this concept along with other concepts and skills to you in our future work.

If you are only seeking for short term therapy because you only need some support and guidance to deal with a very specific issue/task, I’m available for you with my knowledge of brief solution focused therapy and life coaching.

I’m also a native Mandarin speaker. My personal experiences with acculturation help me become more sensitive about cultural related issues. I’m especially familiar with East Asian philosophies and values. If you are experiencing challenges and inner conflicts due to the clash of different cultures/values or acculturation, I’m here for you.

For some, therapy might seem to be mysterious or even scary. You might not feel ready. You might feel ambivalent. You might feel threatened and uncomfortable about the experience of vulnerability. It’s completely normal and I hear you. However, I also want to share this quote by Brene Brown as a little reminder- “Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.” Whenever you are ready, I’ll be glad and honored to work with you.

Therapy with Lin was amazing! She offered amazing insight into my struggles and gave perfectly understandable explanations that helped me throughout my healing. Her knowledge in the differences between Asian and western cultures were a huge benefit and would highly recommend her as a therapist to anyone who struggles with a sort of identity crisis in the face of cultures. I would absolutely recommend her and would love to continue my sessions with her.

Lin is wonderful! I can't say enough about her. She is a thoughtful listener and a careful provider of her own insights. I so frequently came away from our meetings with a new and more functional perspective . Talking to her was very helpful for me and I would strongly recommend her to a friend or family member.

I have only had 2 sessions with Lin and she really understands the issues I'm having. I don't feel like I'm misunderstood or I have to explain myself further. I appreciate her support and guidance so far! I'm looking forward to the work we have ahead of us. Positive feelings so far!
