Thank you for your interest in counseling and welcome! Reaching out for support is a big step. Often, people feel better just by having a safe place to be heard and understood, without judgement. I am here to listen. No problem is too big or small if it's causing distress in your life. Together, we can work to provide some relief from symptoms that are stopping you from being the best you.
I graduated in 2013 with a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from George Washington University. I’m a licensed professional counselor and a certified rehabilitation counselor. My focus of study was on dual diagnosis (those who suffer from a substance use disorder and a mental health disorder). I also attended seminars that focused on counseling LGBTQ clients and published research on how black young boys are treated differently in educational settings. I was born in Washington DC and raised in that area so diversity is the norm and as an Asian American, I understand what it's like to be a minority. However, I’ve successfully helped people of all walks of life. Thus far, my career focused on helping people overcome their substance use in both residential and outpatient settings. Most of my clients had bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, psychotic disorders (as secondary diagnoses) and often suffered a great deal of trauma/abuse. I believe in the power of change and with gentle confrontation, support, a person centered approach, and customized interventions, there are no limits to how much you can improve your life (putting in the hard work of course). In therapy sessions, I use cognitive behavioral therapy, brief solution based therapy, positive psychology and other integrative approaches as tools to help you (I'd be happy to explain these interventions in detail; it's important for you to understand your treatment). All the power to heal is already in you - it's my job to help you gain insight and access the strength to overcome your challenges.

Lina has been an amazing asset to me in overcoming some of life’s obstacles. She listens and provides solid advice and is always encouraging.
Lina is an excellent counselor. She took the time to get to know me, my background, and my goals. Most importantly, she was persistent. She always remained hopeful and optimistic about my future- even when I felt it was impossible. She was an attentive listener, patient, passionate, knowledgeable, and flexible. She will go above and beyond for her clients. Thank you, Lina!
Really kind and patient, a positive experience through and through :)
Lina is a very great counselor. I feel comfortable sharing my personal problems and feel safe with her. She listens patiently and give her expertise in dealing with the situation. It helps a lot. Knowing that you are taken cared of by a professional and walks you through your progress.
I highly recommend Lina. :)
I have greatly enjoyed working with Lina. Lina is extremely knowledgeable and provides a lot of useful tools, feedback and expertise. She is committed to make sure that the experience is helpful and allows me to feel safe, seen, and challenged.
Lina has been so supportive. She checks in with me daily, and is very insightful. I really appreciate being able to message back and forth with her in between our video sessions. I wish everyone had their own “Lina” to help them get through the day. She’s the best!
