I have been a licensed mental health counselor for 25 years. I have practiced individual therapy with adults, teens, and children. I also provided couples and family therapy. I have been able to help clients with a wide range of issues, including: depression, anxiety, past trauma, relationship conflict, eating disorders and addictions.
I believe the most important aspect of therapy is trust between the therapist and client. In order to build this trust, I am always honest, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I believe a client is his or her own expert but may need help letting go of negative thought patterns and feelings of low self esteem in order to reveal this. My style of treatment includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exploring family dynamics, improving coping strategies, and teaching mindfulness techniques. As a certified yoga instructor and proponent of mindfulness, I encourage clients to make use of relaxation techniques.
