About me

I accept people for who and what they are, while still providing support and encouragement to change. I don't see people as diagnoses or as projects to be fixed. Instead I try to look at who you are. I want to help you to be the person you believe you are meant to be. I want to be a supportive person in your life, helping you to be the version of yourself that you feel to be true and genuine. From the base of being your true self, I believe you can make decisions that are genuinely better for you and for those around you.

I have been working in the mental health profession for over 30 years, in various aspects such as crisis counseling, treatment foster care and hospitals that specialize in addiction. My work has led to me to working with issues such as substance abuse, depression, anxiety, PTSD, painful divorces, eating disorders, attachment issues...the list is a long one. I started working as a Licensed Professional Counselor about 4 years ago, for a county mental health facility, and then private practice. My main focus of treatment has been in working with trauma and grief.

I have engaged in training in internal family systems, EMDR, solution focused counseling, motivational interviewing, grief and death counseling, cognitive behavioral counseling and DBT. I bring all of these kinds of therapy into my sessions, as needed, as well as some narrative therapy and client-focused therapy. I definitely use an integrated approach, because I believe that we are all individuals, and no one way of working with people will be effective for all.

I hope we can work together in the future!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Linda Martenet. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Linda is kind and compassionate, but she also doesn't "hold her punches". In the very first session she hit the nail on the head of the root of many of the issues that I had not been able to see myself. She isn't stoic and impersonal, but acts like a real person and it's easy to see she really does want to help her clients.
Unlike my other counselor experiences, she doesn't just throw platitudes and breathing techniques at you, she really listens, analyzes, and works with you to get to the root of the issue. In the 2 months I've been working with her I feel like I've made more progress than I have the last 10 years combined. I cannot recommend her enough.
