Linette Tovar

About Me

Sometimes a person can feel lost after experiencing a traumatic event. Coping with all of the confusing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can be difficult. Depression, anxiety, and other emotional disturbances can set in, causing disruptions at work, school, and home. I aim at helping clients feel heard, understood and whole again. Every individual is unique, thus requiring individualized treatment. I use a combination of different modalities to help meet the needs of each individual. Some of the methods I use can be structured, while others can be very open and flexible. If you are looking for a quick fix, I may not be the counselor for you. Change takes time, and I work best with individuals who are ready for change. One of my favorite quotes is by Albert Einstein who said, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result."

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I completed my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas and my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. (Whoop!) I have extensive experience in working with adults who have endured trauma, whether it be a single incident or complex trauma. I also have experience working with adults who have struggled with anger, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other severe mental health conditions. My clinical experience includes work in private practice, The Harris Center for Mental Health & IDD, San Antonio State Hospital, and Healthsouth Rehabilitation Institute of San Antonio.

I applaud you for reaching out, and I look forward to working with you to help reach your goals.

I enjoy talking to her because she is able to find what I don’t know in between everything I write. She makes me feel very comfortable about being open and she has helped me grow.

Linette has been absolutely amazing. I have had so much going on and so many things that I’m feeling and want to talk about and she has been able to keep me focused and only working on one thing at a time so that I don’t feel so overwhelmed.

I have only done a few counseling sessions with Linette so far and I have come away every time thinking of a new perspective.

She’s super patient with me and is there when I need her the most! She really try’s to understand me and help me with my journey in life. She asks questions to truly get the depth of the situation and provides very helpful feedback. I love that she listens and asks questions to understand and not to just ask random questions. She’s a great match!
