Hello! My name is Lisa Daughters (she, her) and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Arizona and Texas. I have been counseling for 9 years in a variety of settings and working with a wide range of clients. I have a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy, which is the utilization of creative interventions as part of the therapeutic process. I also have specialized training in grief and loss. I also have experience with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, abuse, relationship issues, family concerns, stress management, anger management, reproductive challenges and pregnancy loss, ADHD, self-esteem and confidence, and plus-size/fat community issues. Working with people of size is near and dear to my heart, and I believe that finding a fat-positive professionals can be challenging. I follow a Health at Every Size informed approach.
I believe that my clients are the experts on themselves. I see myself not as an authority but as a companion through challenges and changes. Categorically, my approach is creative, humanistic, emotion-focused. What that means is that I prioritize understanding you, what you're going through, and what you want for yourself. I utilize humor to bring perspective and connection. I also encourage as much creative expression as possible. It's important to me that my clients feel safe, valued, and supported regardless of their circumstances or identity because I believe that is how people heal and grow.
There is no right or wrong time for counseling. There is no right or wrong-sized issue for counseling. If it matters to you, it matters to me.

Lisa Daughters is a phenomenal counselor. She is perceptive and extremely intelligent. I have found her to be empathetic, yet challenging in a healthy and comforting way. I am grateful for the growth and healing I’ve experienced under Lisa’s care, and would recommend her to anyone.
Lisa is really great. I'm glad I have the opportunity to speak with her. I really enjoy the set up of BetterHelp, and think it's a great tool that makes counseling accessible.
Love her so far! She really is helping me realize things about myself.
Lisa has been a tremendous help in my work on anxiety.
Lisa is PHENOMENAL to work with! I never thought online counseling would help so much, but I feel like Lisa truly understand me, listens to me, and is here when I need her for anything that comes up. We’ve done some cool, creative exercises that taught me a lot about my emotions and helped me connect some things in life that I never would’ve connected before! I’m truly grateful for Lisa’s kind words, gentle but action-oriented approach, and her unconditional support. Would highly recommend!
She understands and listens. It feels like you're not talking to another councilor or therapist and give the same rudimentary advice. Its advice that is tailored to you. She listens and sympathizes while also telling you what you NEED to hear without undermining you. Would highly recommend.
Lisa Daughters has been so patient and caring. She listens first and offers a variety of options to help me feel better. She pushes to get through to the deeper problems, which most people won’t do. I have recommended her and the BetterHelp experience to many of my friends. She has literally saved me through times where I felt like I was drowning. So amazing and supportive!
Lisa has been a great support for me so far. Our relationship is just beginning, but I believe she can definitely get me moving in the right direction towards more self-compassion and in a more positive place.
Intelligent, insightful counselor! Helping me rebuild my life.
Lisa was very lovely to work with. I've never had therapy before and I can say this was a very good first experience. She was very understanding and had really good insight to give. It was a short time but she helped a lot more than you could think a week long trial would give. I would highly recommend her and now I know that better help is a very helpful place when you need to vent or get out of a funk.
At first I thought BetterHelp might be a bit of a scam. Then I was matched with my counselor Lisa. I was hoping and praying she wasn't the stereotypical "how does that make you feel"counselor. Thankfully I couldn't be more wrong. Lisa is not only nice and respectful she seems like she really cares. She's straight forward and transparent. Which has really helped me with trusting her.Lisa has already helped me through so much with feeling more comfortable with my PTSD. To making me realize that how I react now to what I've been through is not only normal for my situation it's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm still a work in progress and the PTSD will never go away, but it can and does get better. With Lisa's help I hope to continue the progress and move forward.
I cannot express how grateful I am for Lisa so far. Her questions are thoughtful and she's challenged me to dig deep in a kind and respectful way. I'm so grateful.
Lisa is an excellent confidant while dealing with life's stresses. She helps me see both the big picture and the individual pieces that help shape it. She is very encouraging and quick to point out progress. I'm so glad to be working with someone who is professional, competent, and down-right amiable.
Lisa is a fantastic, compassionate, and extremely smart counselor. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs help with anxiety, relationships, or really anything.
