Lisa Forsman

About Me

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have been working professionally since 2000. My clients have experienced emotional turmoil, crisis, legal matters (Child Protection involvement, foster care, divorce, and restraining orders), relationship and trust issues, challenging health problems (cancer, cirrhosis, and diabetes), bingeing and addiction, parenting and employments problems, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, grief & loss, suicidal thoughts, and self-harming behavior.

My approach to helping people is to support them with respect, active listening, motivating them towards achieving their specific treatment goals, and having fun along the way. I will utilize techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), behavior activation (BA), and a strengths based perspective. Through nonjudgmental and supportive interactions, counseling with me will be enjoyable but also challenging. There are times when humor is appropriate and can be very beneficial.
I'll be here when you’re ready to focus on you!

I look forward to working with you!

Lisa has been a wonderful breath of fresh air. I had been struggling to find a counselor that struck the right balance of active listening, helpful advice, and true emotional and intellectual understanding. Her background seems to have given her a wide range of experience—which inspires trust in her ability to navigate many issues and topics. She has been flexible schedule-wise and checks in with me often through messages. I'm grateful to be talking with her, and I always look forward to our next session.

Lisa is great! She asks great questions, thoughtful in her responses, provides great encouragement, but most importantly, challenges me in all the right ways. Thank you Lisa.
