About me

Hi my name is Lisa Lewis. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia. I am originally from North Carolina and obtained my undergraduate degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University. I completed my Masters in Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012 and have been working in the mental health field since then. I have 10 years experience working in many different settings with individuals that have a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, grief, severe mental illness, life transitions, PTSD, and trauma. I believe therapy is a path for experiencing relief/healing and restoring a deep connection with our self and others.

I utilize modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Committment Therapy as well as trauma focused therapies. While most of my experience is in trauma work, I am also well equipped to treat a wide spectrum of presenting symptoms (i.e. anxiety, panic, depression, etc.) that may have originated from a traumatic or particularly stressful events in your life. I use a person-centered approach to meet you where you are and help utilize resources you already have or work together with you to develop new resources.

My therapy style is interactive and engaging. I strive to create a welcoming, collaborative, and authentic exchange. I like to work with people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs. I am available to work with you via live video, phone, and live chat. What is most important is to create a safe and nonjudgemental place to allow the healing process to happen. I firmly believe in the connection of mind, body and spirit and will work with you to restore that connection.

Lisa has been very good to work with. She listens and acknowledges my situation and feelings, but she also doesn’t let me BS myself or her. She has been incredibly insightful and practical in helping me deal with issues that have been lifelong.
