About me

My name is Lisa Padilla and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been working in the field of social services for 7 years; my counseling style is empathic, empowering and straight-forward. I believe you are the expert in your own life and together we will forge a path for your individual destination. My approach is respectful, motivating, empathic; utilizing a combination of evidence-based interventions depending on your individual need. I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Psycho-Dynamic, and Solution Focused Behavioral Therapy (SFBT).

I began by working crisis intervention for domestic violence survivors and providing on-going counseling to survivors and families as well as facilitating psycho-educational groups for self-help and parenting. I have experience in substance use disorders, ranging from in-treatment residential, full-time care with co-occurring mental health disorders; to organizing a community based outpatient treatment programs. I am a certified ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) treatment provider. I have been working with active duty/retired Military members and their dependents as a private practitioner and an Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC); I am familiar with struggles associated with mental health challenges, familial discord, deployments and reunifications. I have experience working with LGBTQ+ population and those who may be considering and/or going through a life transition. I believe in the reciprocation of knowledge between therapist and client; hopefully we can both teach other something about life challenges and coping; like, I said, you are the expert in your own life- we just all need a little help seeing the redirection in front of us that will make our path more enlightened again!

Reaching out for help is the first and hardest step; its also the one that leads to a healthier, happier tomorrow. I want to thank you for allowing me to walk beside you on this journey. I look forward to meeting you.

Lisa really helped me through a tough time. She is kind and compassionate and never judges you for your actions. She is well versed in substance abuse related issues as well as relationship issues. Lisa isn’t afraid to tell you things as they are and never sugar coats the truth. She believes we have the answers to our own problems and just helps us dig deeper into our own self reflection. 10/10 recommend to any one who’s first time in receiving therapy.

Lisa is a great listener, adapts well to my flow, and is great at reflecting emotions and noticing trends. I feel like she could give me more prescriptive homework and guidance though, sometimes it feels a bit generic.
