About Me
Hello and welcome to Better help. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Indiana with over 30 years of experience working with children, adults, couples and families. I graduated from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis with a masters degree in Social Work. I have an undergraduate degree from Ball State University in Criminal Justice and Criminology. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges and sexual issues.
My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I am direct in my approach with the ability to challenge thoughts and behaviors in order for my clients to receive the results they desire. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical, solution focus therapies. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
I can interact with you in whatever manner you are most comfortable. I find it helpful to participate in video sessions so that we can get to know each other better but I am also available to you via phone if that is more comfortable for you.
It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

I have loved working with Lisa! She is very kind and understanding, and I felt comfortable talking to her from day one. She is very supportive and helps me understand the 'why?' behind some of my thoughts and behaviors, but she also encourages me to find the 'why?' myself as well.
Very helpful. Helps me strategies alot of issues.
Have really grown Lisa has really helped me listen and understand others, but at the same time get a better feel for myself.
I love my sessions with Lisa. I always feel heard and like anything I tell her is important. She always helps me out and I leave or hang up from a session feeling 100% better than I did when I started. She's a great counselor.
Its just been a couple of sessions and i have a lot of work to do and progress to make, however since speaking to Lisa I have felt more positive to know that i can make the changes and work through things. She helped me feel at ease from the second we spoke. I am looking forward to my new journey
Lisa is a skilled therapist. When I tell her my abstract issues she breaks down what I'm feeling and helps me cope with it in a practical way. She quickly understood me as a person, my learning style and what I need from therapy and tailored her services to me. She is also open minded and accepting.
Lisa Riggs intuitively knows the trajectory of my thoughts and emotions when I'm sharing situations and issues. Lisa efficiently and effectively helps me reflect, process and have impactful revelations. I regularly have "ah-ha" moments of self-discovery with Lisa's compassionate guidance. This is facilitated with the strong and trusting rapport I felt with her immediately.
Lisa is very understanding and quick to assess situations. She is supportive and comfortable to talk to.
In just a few sessions, I feel very comfortable with Lisa. I also feel that she pushes me in gentle ways but asking me important questions that help me talk about what I went through/am going through. It's a great mix of the kind of therapy that feels like chatting with a friend but a friend who is not afraid to help you feel emotions and pinpoint areas where you need help/support. She gives me real strategies to implement and I feel she genuinely cares.
Lisa is very welcoming and warm. She’s a very careful listener and is observant. When I hadn’t spoken to her in a short while, she reached out to me to ask me how I was doing. I did not have any experience with counselling prior to Lisa, but I am so happy to have been assigned to her.
I have been working with Lisa for about a month now and I feel like this is the best counselor I have worked with on BetterHelp and in classic therapy. She uses a combination of CBT and talk therapy that works well with my own style of learning and growth. I feel like I have made strides in just this short amount of time. And Lisa makes sure to point out the progress you have made, especially when you feel like you haven’t. She is kind and supportive without being pushy or demanding. She bolsters you and gives you hope that you can be the person you want to be.
Respectful of my thoughts and feelings. Good listener. Helped give me strategies for dealing with my issues without judgment.
Lisa is absolutely amazing. I was rather scared to go into counseling, but her approach has made me feel confident. I very much look forward to future sessions.
