About me

My therapeutic approach involves honoring my clients for the strengths you have achieved throughout your lifetime, acknowledging the hardships you have experienced, and supporting you in discovering the beauty and strength within yourself while manifesting the person you want to present to your family, friends and community.

My goal with you is to help you gain needed insights to the make necessary changes so that you will be exhibiting the power and wisdom you want your loved ones to know. I want you to be able to show your friends, family and community the beauty that is already inside you. Together, we will learn from our shared wisdom.

For most of my career, I have utilized the flexibility of my degrees and licenses to maintain a private psychotherapy practice while also working as a Medical Social Worker in Home Health and Hospice.

My clinical style is to use a strengths-based approach utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused techniques to assist you in learning how to uncover your highest self. I can help you: find healing of traumas from abuse, learn coping strategies for dealing with depression and anxiety, and discover your best ways of navigating relationships with your family, friends and community.
• I have a unique understanding of how women have experienced the changing culture of attitudes towards us over the past century.
• I honor your background and culture and help you work toward where YOU want to go in your life.
• I will join you in your process of honoring the losses you have experienced throughout your lifetime and help you with pursuing YOUR spiritual healing path.
• I can assist you with re-processing traumas so you are better able to cope with painful memories.

I received my education from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University and have had the privilege of living and working in the varying cultures in Michigan; the grounded, yet spiritual beauty of New Mexico; and now, the small town life of the Central Coast of California. I have lived a full and busy life of beauty and hardships filled with my own family of origin's challenges, two amazing children I have been honored to have given birth to, as well as step children and grandchildren who have also blessed my life. I feel fortunate to have had a rich career in Social Work and find it hard to believe I have as many years of experience (30+) as I do. I do my best to remain youthful in mind, spirit and body. I have the gift of humor along with the understanding of how to use it to cope with life's ongoing challenges. I am currently enjoying a quieter life with my husband on the Coast of California.

Lisa is so calm and understanding. I feel like I can speak with her openly without the fear of being judged. If I would’ve known therapy was like this I would have started a long time ago.

Lisa is an excellent therapist and source of support. Every time we talk, I always feel better. She makes me comfortable and offers great advice and insights. Together, we've managed to navigate my own mental health from crisis to maintenance in a reasonable period of time. Lisa helps me put the lessons I learn in our sessions into practice in my daily life and I truly believe I'm a better person for it. I couldn't be happier with her as a counselor.
