Lisa Smith

About Me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida with 8 years of experience as a psychotherapist. I graduated with a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, and have completed advanced training in Trauma Incident Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, addictions, and the treatment of domestic violence survivors. I have extensive experience working with clients who have depression and anxiety disorders, trauma survivors, clients who have issues with low self-esteem, and clients suffering from grief and loss. In addition, I am an LGBTQ-friendly therapist.

I enjoy people, and I receive great satisfaction in helping them find solutions to life problems while achieving personal growth. To me, therapy is as simple as that. In my previous work as a human resources leader and now, as a therapist, my goal has been building lasting relationships. I approach a new client with the same vigor that a zoologist might devote to a newly discovered species. I want to know who you are, what excites you, and who you love. Clients have described me as someone who is open and honest and who loves to learn and laugh.

My approach to therapy is empathetic and collaborative. I want to learn about you as a whole person rather than focusing only on diagnoses. I see my clients as key partners in the therapeutic process. Making the decision to pursue therapy is a daunting task for many people. I congratulate you for your courage, and I look forward to helping you turn your goals into realities.

Lisa is a good listener and grasps the situation very well. She seems very organized and empathetic. Lisa comes off as a problem solver and pretty quick gave me some exercises to complete that were very insightful on her part. I feel my issues are being addressed and responded to well, so I'm very pleased.

Lisa is the best counselor I've ever had, period. Finding a good counselor has been a barrier for me in seeking treatment, and I am so grateful to have been matched with Lisa on BetterHelp.

She was a great help on talking myself through the "slumps" I had been in. I felt that she asked the right questions that helped me see my situation from different angles and it allowed me to understand myself. Some of the things that she have told me are still resonating in my mind whenever certain situations or thoughts arise.

I am forever grateful for her service and her honesty and I wish her the best.

She is much more informative and helpful than I expected, also gives me her deep concern that I am so thankful for. I recommend Mrs. Smith for everyone who are suitable with her therapy area. Thank you for being my online counselor.

I have found Lisa to be committed and diligent in making herself available to me through my therapeutic process

She makes me feel comfortable and I'm not obligated to share information that I'm not comfortable sharing with. She does her best to fully understand my situation, which is hard to do via messages. I feel supported and that I will always have someone to talk to with no judgement.

I appreciate her so much!

I have found Lisa to be a well-informed, very helpful and sincerely caring counselor. Although I only had contact with her for a short period of time, she was able to help me find my way through to clarity as I continue on in my healing work.
