Lisa Smith

(MS, LMHC)

About Me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida with 8 years of experience as a psychotherapist. I graduated with a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, and have completed advanced training in Trauma Incident Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, addictions, and the treatment of domestic violence survivors. I have significant experience treating clients with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, and career concerns. In addition, I am an LGBTQ-friendly therapist.

I enjoy people, and I receive great satisfaction in helping them find solutions to life problems while achieving personal growth. To me, therapy is as simple as that. In my previous work as a human resources leader and now, as a therapist, my goal has been building lasting relationships. I approach a new client with the same vigor that a zoologist might devote to a newly discovered species. I want to know who you are, what excites you, and who you love. Clients have described me as someone who is open and honest and who loves to learn and laugh.

My approach to therapy is empathetic and collaborative. I want to learn about you as a whole person rather than focusing only on diagnoses. I see my clients as key partners in the therapeutic process. Making the decision to pursue therapy is a daunting task for many people. I congratulate you for your courage, and I look forward to helping you turn your goals into realities.

I have only been speaking with Lisa for a few weeks, but during that short time my mom passed away. She has been extremely helpful in helping me go through this time in my life and I'm glad I signed up when I did.

Lisa is a fantastic counsellor who works so hard to meet your individual needs and work with you on any aspect of your life you are struggling with. Her expertise is broad, and anything she is less familiar with she is more than happy to learn and research. Her support has been so integral to my wellbeing and I am so grateful for her kindness and endless effort to help.

Lisa saved my life. She is caring and emphasizes the deep-rooted issues. I can say that from previous experiences. Nothing has worked for me until now!

She is like the grandmother everybody loves. A grandmother that can help you with anything where as she is though but fair, the perfect balance.
I adore her soft and calming voice.

Lisa is the best counselor I've ever had, period. Finding a good counselor has been a barrier for me in seeking treatment, and I am so grateful to have been matched with Lisa on BetterHelp.

She was a great help on talking myself through the "slumps" I had been in. I felt that she asked the right questions that helped me see my situation from different angles and it allowed me to understand myself. Some of the things that she have told me are still resonating in my mind whenever certain situations or thoughts arise.

I am forever grateful for her service and her honesty and I wish her the best.

She makes me feel comfortable and I'm not obligated to share information that I'm not comfortable sharing with. She does her best to fully understand my situation, which is hard to do via messages. I feel supported and that I will always have someone to talk to with no judgement.

I appreciate her so much!

I have found Lisa to be a well-informed, very helpful and sincerely caring counselor. Although I only had contact with her for a short period of time, she was able to help me find my way through to clarity as I continue on in my healing work.
