Thank you for reviewing my information. I have tried to be quite detailed here, so please read to the end before selecting me as your therapist. After working a while on this online therapy medium, I have found it quite important that you (the client), have a very good idea who you will be working with.
I have many years of experience providing therapy to clients in both the hospital and the outpatient setting. I am an LCSW, licensed in the state of Texas. Bachelors degree obtained in Manchester, England and Masters Degree obtained from the University of Southern California. The general theme of my therapeutic style is an overriding belief in the right to self determination, and supporting clients as they learn to help themselves and build a tool kit for long term success.
I respond to chat messages 1-2 times per day, 5 days per week (my weekends are a bit flexible) and I welcome global clients. I have worked with clients from all over the world both in person and through the online modality. As my counseling style is quite goal oriented, I do utilize a lot of worksheets. I am definitely not a sit back and say "hmmm" Freudian type of therapist! I generally schedule video or voice sessions once per week for 30 minutes. If you are looking for multiple video sessions per week, I am probably not the right therapist for you.
I practice with unconditional positive regard, empathy and utilize evidence based interventions. I am Beck Institute trained in cognitive behavioral therapy and I combine this with mindfulness activities. During therapy with me you can expect to set goals, determine the thoughts associated with those goals (both positive and negative), the emotions, distress tolerance, behavioral experiments, exposures and more. Depending upon need I like to provide my clients with mindfulness exercises that they can complete at home, and other CBT homework. Anxiety, depression, adjustments and personality disorders are very responsive to my style of treatment. You can expect to start with me by working on the general ADL's. I do have a strong belief that once a presenting crisis is managed, the first order of business is to make sure that the basics are in place. Sleep/Nutrition/Exercise/Basic Socialization.
An additional area of expertise for me is addiction treatment. I have worked in several rehabilitation facilities as a counselor, and also as a social worker for a liver transplant center. If addiction is your primary presenting problem, please get in touch so we can talk about whether or not this treatment modality can meet your needs. I have also worked extensively with clients and their family at the end of life. in meaning-making, life reviews, etc.
Please note ( and this is quite important!) that I generally conduct my video sessions weekdays from 5PM-about 8PM CENTRAL time, and Sundays 10AM-2PM CENTRAL time. I love my global clients, but please make sure that this timing is going to work for you as I do need to see each of you on the video every week or every other week.
If you are looking just for a diagnosis or for somebody to provide you with a letter for disability, then I am not the therapist for you. It is incredibly difficult to formally diagnose somebody within this online treatment modality.
