About Me

Hi! My name is Liz and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. I have worked in the counseling field for over 6 years in a variety of settings and with a diverse range of clients. I earned my Masters degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University and special training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have helped clients who struggle with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, loss and grief, major life changes and adjustments, and parenting.

Counseling gives you the opportunity to make time for self-exploration. As your counselor, it is my job to give you an accepting, affirming, and empathetic environment where you can learn more about yourself, identify things about your life that you like, and process how to change what is not going well for you. I find it a privilege to work with my clients and be part of their journey towards becoming a version of themselves of which they are proud. I have seen my clients challenge themselves, do hard work, and make revelations that were possible within the safe space of counseling. You are beginning your first steps of that process by looking for a counselor, and for that I want to encourage you!

My approach to therapy is client centered: I believe the client is an expert on their own life and I'm here to help you accomplish the goals you make for yourself. Through a strengths-based and solutions-focused lens, I draw on multiple treatment modalities to guide clients in identifying strengths and learning about their emotions. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I assist clients in understanding how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected and driven. This model can also be used with a trauma lens (Trauma-Focused CBT) to understand how crises and tragedies in our life have affected our ability to cope.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy being in my backyard with my family and two cats. I love to read, visit new places, and watch too much TV. I look forward to meeting you!

Liz has been so great at hearing me out and really listening to everything I have to say. She has a way of helping me feel at ease. Even if I haven’t explained my situation to her yet, she still offers great solutions to help me out. I enjoy our sessions because she knows just what to say to help me feel better.

Liz has been so wonderful to work with. This is my very first real experience with non-religious based counseling and it has been immensely helpful. Liz is so kind and listens intently when I’m expressing myself and while she does validate me, she also uses gentle reminders when I may be looking at things from an unhealthy angle. This has helped me to make that a practice which has been an effective strategy for conflict resolution in my relationships.

In the little that I have know Liz I have felt comfortable messaging and video chatting with her. She reaches out to me as well. I like to receive her messages when she hasn’t heard from me in a day or two. I fell that she cares and that me working with her is important to her and to me

Liz has such a calming energy about her, I was surprised at how easy it was to open up immediately. Therapy doesn't work if you're not honest with how you're feeling and with Liz, she provides a very comforting disposition that makes you feel like she cares about how you feel and wants to help. Despite only having 30 minutes for a video call, she makes sure that by the end of the call, you're feeling at peace and at ease with everything going on. I feel like we cover so much ground in such a short time. She takes her time responding to messages, always responds quickly, and encourages me to send them regularly. She seems to have a personal interest in her patients' wellbeing and will even check on you periodically to see how you're feeling if you haven't reached out in a while. Even though it takes time and patience to really discover results, Liz definitely has the experience and insight to get me there!

Liz has been a tremendous help with my healing process. She makes you feel respected and that your feelings are valid as well as question you to identify things on your own with a little push and guidance. I am so grateful to have her as a therapist. I can confidently say I am in a much better place than where I was two months ago. Thank you so much!
