Lontonia Bryant, LCMHC
About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and also I am a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate. I have 11 years of counseling experience with mental health/addictions. My education has prepared me to counsel adults, adolescents, and children in the private and public sectors. Therapy services include: individual, group, and family counseling. I have worked with adults and adolescents who has a mental health and substance abuse diagnosis. I have also worked with adults with developmental disabilities with behavioral disorders. I have experience working with the severe and persistent mentally ill clients as well. I have experiencing working with the active duty and veterans with a dual-diagnoses.
My theoretical orientation includes person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing. In the counseling setting, the client and the counselor will use a variety of exercises, homework, readings, and therapeutic confrontations. Some of the techniques used will be engaging the client in open-ended questions, affirmations, relaxation techniques, self-monitoring, harm reduction, mood tracking etc. I am competent with CBT techniques (relaxation, self-monitoring), play therapy, self-actualization, genuineness, showing empathy, and unconditional positive regard. The aim of counseling is to reach specific goals for individual and relational growth, which are mutually agreed upon by both the client and counselor.
It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

I haven’t been able to really talk to her but that’s on my part, not hers. Everything I’ve came to her about, she has been phenomenal. I’m very happy with my counselor.
