My name is Loretta Collins, and I am an LCPC in the state of Maryland. After a 25-year career in sales, I decided to return to school and get my Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I work from a cognitive-behavioral and person-centered methodology. Therapy is not one-sided but a partnership. My background is working with people suffering from substance use disorders and other dual diagnoses, including PTSD, MDD, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, and anxiety, to name a few. One of the reasons I became a counselor was to stop the stigma of psychological health. Until we start referring to brain disorders on the same par with physical problems, psychological health will continue to be considered in a “less than” manner.

I’ve been working with Loretta for 4 months and my sessions with her have made a significant impact on helping me manage my anxiety. When I started speaking with her, I was really struggling and having multiple panic attacks throughout the week. I’ve made steady progress with Loretta during our weekly phone calls. There have been up and downs, of course, but she’s helped me to not dwell on things. This is my first time working with a therapist and I feel so fortunate to have been paired to work with Loretta. Highly recommend her!

Loretta is truly the best therapist I have ever had. She very much helped save my life and helped me make significant progress! I am so grateful to have found her. She is funny and truly cares about her clients and is excited for you when there are wins. She is someone that I plan to follow for a long time, I have created such a great working relationship that I don’t think I would find elsewhere. Thanks so much Loretta!!!!

Loretta's personal and conversational approach made it so much easier for me to open up than I ever have in the past. She’s smart, funny and kind and really makes you feel understood. My anxiety is much lower and she has helped me break several toxic patterns in my life - some I wasn’t even fully aware of. I’m living with a new clarity, confidence and perspective. She’s amazing!

Loretta is an amazing therapist. She makes you feel very comfortable, she’s funny, laidback, and, to my chagrin, is almost always right. She gives great advice and “homework” that is tailored to your situation. I absolutely recommend Loretta to anyone, especially those with a sense of humor!

I look forward to my sessions with Loretta and always come out of them feeling better. She has walked with me through one of the most difficult times of my life with humor, wit and comfort. In a time where I have been unsure of my self, she has been there to both validate and challenge -- giving me much-needed context to anchor the whirlwind in my head. She makes me laugh, too, and that feels very, very good right now!

She's smart, funny, brings a diverse skill set, and laughs at my lame jokes - what more could I ask for. I am so lucky to have been matched with her, she's truly cares and I feel better / relaxed after we talk

She is so down to earth and easy to talk to and she listens to what is being said and does not dismiss your feelings or emotions

Loretta helps me face things that I need to address but are difficult for me. She knows what I'm trying to sidestep and helps me see what I choose not to. I feel trust and confidence that I won't be judged or dismissed for what I open up about to her. I have difficulty trusting people with my thoughts and feelings about most everything. My anxiety levels have really gone down with having her as my therapist and they were really, really bad.

Loretta’s approach not only helped me grow as a person, but always left me with a smile on my face. She consistently was able to ease tension with humor, making it easier to share difficult topics. I saw genuine improvement in myself in my time with her. Loretta raised the bar of my expectations for what therapy should look like, and showed me that therapy can and should be an enjoyable experience.

Loretta Collins (Begg) changed my life. There were a lot of people that could have probably done a good job of helping me out of my dark hole that I was in, but Loretta’s ability to help me feel comfortable, encourage me, and listen to me gave me the time to heal and begin to move forward again. Loretta sometimes uses humor to help make my darker days a little lighter and give me a laugh when I needed it most and probably wouldn’t have wanted to, but those were the best sessions. These things may seem simple, but after being in a dark place for so long all of these things helped me feel like myself again. I can’t thank Loretta enough for the time, compassion, and the new perspectives she’s given me since starting to work with her 5 months ago.
