About me

Hi, my name is Lori De Leo. I am impressed that you are considering counseling, as it can be a difficult decision to make. You might appreciate a little background information about my education and work experience. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Louisville. I have been in the mental health profession for over 20 years working with all ages, with various cultural backgrounds, and in a variety of environments. For instance, I have, by choice, worked in numerous settings such as schools, psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment facilities, nursing homes, private homes, private practice, and outpatient counseling centers. I prefer outpatient counseling, such as the counseling provided through BetterHelp. In those environments I have provided individual, group, and family therapy, psychological assessments, crisis intervention, educational classes, consultation services, supervision to therapists, clinical director services, and intervention programs in the school and in the community.

I genuinely like working with people to help them reach their goals and live happier lives. I use an eclectic approach when providing therapy based on my client’s needs and desires, such as, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Skills System, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Therapy, and Trauma Focused-CBT. I have experience working with various mental health issues, including, but not limited to, PTSD, depression, anxiety, aggression, emotion dysregulation, interpersonal/relational issues, parenting difficulties, psychosis, substance abuse, trauma/abuse, divorce/separation, personality disorders, and grief. In addition, I have experience working with the intellectually (mild or moderate ID) and developmentally disabled population (i.e., Autism). I believe in providing my clients with a safe environment where they feel comfortable and free to share their thoughts and feelings without being judged. I would be honored to provide that safe place for you and build a trusting therapeutic relationship with you; I believe both are key to helping you reach your goals and live a happier life.

I can interact with you in several ways including messaging (like emailing), live chat (like texting), talking on the phone, and video conferencing. I have availability Monday through Friday during the day with limited weekend availability. I look forward to working with you!
