Lorraine Calhoun


About Me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor utilizing an eclectic approach to therapy, but primarily using cognitive behavioral, humanistic, and solution focused therapy techniques. I provide a supportive space for clients to share their struggles with anxiety, stress, depression, self-confidence/self-esteem, unresolved underlying issues, relationship, grief and loss related issues. I work with my clients as a team to help them better understand themselves, their strengths, how to utilize those strengths, and find healthy coping strategies to manage difficult feelings and situations.

I received my Master's degree from Nova Southeastern University and have been providing psychotherapy services throughout my community for the past 9 years. I have worked with adolescent and adult clients from just about every walk of life within correctional facilities, recovery and rehabilitation programs, in-community counseling programs, and in private practice. I am now extending my reach by engaging in the online platform. I hope to help you find relief and helpful tools to carry you forward to a more peaceful and healthful life.

I really enjoy her, I don’t feel like she judges me for my choices. Sometimes I go a couple days without responding and she makes the effort to check in on me to make sure I’m okay. She really listens and wants to help.

I have seen 4 different counselors for help over the past 6 years, and Lorraine was by far the most successful in helping me feel better again. I was matched with her in a very dark time for me, which she was able to help go above and beyond, and met almost up to 3 hours a week to make sure I made it out on the other side. I could never say the same about any other counselor. She fostered a safe space, so safe, that for the first time, ever, I was able to open up about my eating disorder. My counselors before never got to know me on a deep enough level or were rushing me out their door after 45 minutes. I needed someone who would understand the struggles of a 20 something depressed, bulimic, riddled with anxiety, and care about me. I just needed someone to listen and care. Lorraine did just that. She gave me topics to reflect on introspectively, worksheets to fill out, and various forms of therapy to implement into my daily life. I have regained better control of my eating and a lot of that has to do with my happiness which Lorraine played such a large role in bringing back to me. Thank you so much Lorraine, I would recommend her to absolutely anyone!

I really enjoyed working with Lorraine. I really felt understood and listened to. I was able to open up and speak freely with her and that allowed me to be comfortable and authentically share how things were for me. I really am grateful for Lorraine.
