Hello, I’m Louise Long, and I’m here to help no matter what you are going through.
As a therapist, I have more than 25 years of experience, and have worked with clients with many, many different problems. I believe that respect and building and maintaining trust are very important in therapy. My counseling style is empathic and solution-focused, and I believe strongly that you are a unique individual, and your treatment should be as unique and driven by you. I know how to listen, and I'm confident that if we both put in the time and effort, you can and will make progress.
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist, licensed in New Mexico. I have a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. I worked in California for several years, and then returned to my home state of New Mexico. Here in New Mexico, I have had a private practice and worked many years in community mental health services as a therapist and as a clinical supervisor and clinical director training other therapists.
Don't let the title Marriage and Family Therapist fool you. I don't work just with couples and families. I have experience with just about every type of client -- with individuals, couples, and families, but also with children and youth from age 5 to 12, teens age 13 to 18, and adults from age 18 to 90 or older.
Although my specialties have been mostly in trauma and addictions, I work with clients on many other issues. See below for a list of some of these. Please be aware that this is not a complete list.
I am not just a therapist -- I am also a mother and grandmother, and the mom of a sweet fur-baby, a long-hair Chihuahua who continually delights me. My favorite thing, other than this sweet little girl, is travel.
I am so excited to be here working with BetterHelp, and looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you.

Very helpful, and understanding. Wonderful person to talk to. She has been extremely helpful with my situation
She has been very welcoming and kind to me which is all I really wanted in a therapist. She provides me with different perspectives which is so helpful.
I am so glad I joined Better Help and more so, that my therapist is Ms. Louise Long. I have never felt so supported, genuinely cared for, and that I could trust someone to give me such excellent coping skills and advice when I need it most. Anytime the subject of counseling comes up with family, friends, or coworkers, I never miss the chance to reccomend her! She is the absolute best!
Louise has been a wonderful addition to my life! You don’t have to be having “extreme” issues to want, need or benefit from therapy. I needed balance and perspective and Louise has provided that and more. Highly recommend!
So far she has been kind, considerate and amazing. I love talking with her and I feel so much better after I do.
Louise is a great therapist. She is a wonderful listener and has very good advice. She also is willing to tell me where I might be making some errors and I very much appreciate this.
Louise has been my counselor for close to a year now. She has always been kind and caring. She has always listened to me and gave me healthy ways to work through issues and become a better version of myself. I have been to a few other counselors and none have been able to help me the way Louise has.
Louise understood my situation immediately and was very compassionate and helpful. I look forward to meeting with her again!
She's absolutely amazing. She's not afraid to say the tough things that I need to hear and she's been very supportive and understanding. I never feel judgement and she's extremely kind.
Louise is very welcoming and she listens very well. She also gives very helpful advice! My time with her is well used and I am confident in her work and abilities.
Louise Long is great. She encourages me and motivates me all the time.
I feel my experience with Louise has be everything I hoped it could be. My concerns and emotions are met with compassion and understanding. I don’t feel judged for second guessing myself or what I feel. That’s comforting. I couldn’t of asked for a better counselor to help me through this difficult time.
It is a valuable session even though it is not in person. I feel listened to and respected.
Louise Long has been responsive and very helpful. I find our interactions encouraging.
