I am a clinical psychologist licensed in South Dakota with 5 years of experience working as a therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and PTSD/trauma. I have also helped many people who have experienced emotional & sexual abuse.
My counseling style is warm and supportive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and interpersonal counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
You may find it helpful to know that I have experience being the client in a counseling relationship so I know the worry about finding a good fit. I am a person who needs to know I can say anything to my therapist and not feel judged. I need to feel understood, validated, and able to be myself. If this is the kind of relationship you would like to have with your therapist too, then I think we will be a good match.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

She is very supportive and it feels like I have a friend to talk to but a friend I can tell anything to and won’t have any judgements over the things I tell her. I love it since I started with her.

I’m 100 percent thrilled with Dr. Diaz and BetterHelp. Since my first appointment, Dr. Diaz has been great about asking just the right questions to get me babbling about all the things I need to get off my chest. Large and small, she’s patient and lets me ramble without interruption. I’m super aware of the issues I need to work on, so my experience with her is very much geared to my needs to have someone to bounce my thoughts off of, while also giving me a safety net of knowing there is always someone available to talk with if I need it. It’s been a huge benefit.

I've really enjoyed working with Dr. Diaz. She makes me feel heard and valid, and I've noticed a tremendous amount of personal growth in the few months that I've been working with her. She helps me with every day issues and with more deeply-rooted issues, whether it's in a scheduled session or in a random message, to which she always responds quickly. My favorite part about working with Dr. Diaz is that she offers actual solutions and helps me come up with concrete plans for how to tackle those solutions, making sure that I'm setting myself up for success instead of just throwing out arbitrary suggestions.

Dr. Diaz is an amazing counselor who helped me through the most trying times of my relationship. She gently guided me to identify my fears and set them aside so that I could find my strength and my self again. She challenged me on my preconceived assumptions and old behaviors so that I could decide which ones are serving me well and which ones are not. All my work with her has helped me to feel like I regained control over myself in my situation and has helped me immensely to regain my confidence. I would recommend her to anyone!
