About Me

Hi! My name is Lynn Johnson. After getting a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Louisiana State University in 2003, I attended Denver Seminary. I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling in 2007. I have over 14 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor. It has been an honor to provide trauma-informed, evidence-based psychotherapy services to adults and children over the course of my career. I see the counseling relationship much like a consulting one. I view my clients as equals and believe in coming alongside and supporting them in their strengths. I seek to share what I’ve learned in graduate school and in my career in a personalized way. I believe the counseling relationship should be empowering, non-judgmental, and collaborative. My goal is to help you achieve what you want for your life, working within your worldview and values.

My theoretical orientation is eclectic, which means I take tenants from different theoretical orientations and use them in conjunction with one another. The theoretical orientations I ascribe to are: Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Family Systems, Person Centered, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I’d be happy to provide more information and answer questions regarding my approach and style.

I specialize in helping people cope and thrive amidst relationship issues, anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, and current life stressors.

I live in New Orleans with my husband, two pugs, shih-tzu, and a spunky siamese. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends, listening to live music, doing yoga, running, and reading.

Cannot say enough good things about Lynn. In a really short time, I already feel so supported and safe with her. She is so kind and genuine, and has provided me with such eye opening perspectives that have helped me to start making the changes I need/want to make for myself.

It is difficult to write this even though I often find it easy to write reviews. The impact Lynn has made on my life cannot be measured in 1 - 10. To give you perspective, I have referred 4 people to betterhelp, who are current members I believe, because Lynn has been such an amazing therapist and person. I truly cannot put it into words without getting emotional. I have been thankful for the variety of methods we've used in our sessions, the care and consideration I have experienced, and the thorough transparency you would find in a mentor or, in this case, an extraordinary therapist. Lynn listens intently, gives amazing feedback without being judgey or preachy, and I feel thoroughly supported and empowered by her. I can earnestly believe in the progress I have made and can see it. Lastly, my weekly session with Lynn is such a recharge in my spirit that I can only wish every person to receive such care. There will be a time when I've healed enough to see her every 2 weeks, and then once a month, but until then I am glad to have such a brilliant and kind person in my corner.

I sincerely recommend BetterHelp, and specifically Lynn Johnson to anyone in need of an earnest, great therapist.

After a couple of months working with Lynn I feel as though I'm really seeing myself in a new way, and seeing the world in a new way. It's great to work with someone that will take the time to listen, even when I'm struggling to form a thought out loud, instead of taking that opportunity in my pausing to speak. It's nice to know I can take my time, form my thoughts, and express them slowly. She's really helped me to recognize ways I subtly beat myself up with words, and I'm more aware of that moving forward.

I feel heard, I feel like her only client although I know I am not--she responds quickly and is very flexible.

I just started with Lynn, she was very professional and gave me a good overview of what she does and specializes in. We connected rite away with a shared history of being in Colorado. She has been fantastic with her advice and very helpful in providing me emotional support. As well as logical information and contacts to help me get through this hard divorce process. She was super flexible and easy to reschedule sessions with. I am extremely happy.
