About me

I grew up in a family of seven, the middle of four sisters, so life was never boring or quite and I loved it that way. My father was in the military meaning we moved around a bit, so meeting new people of all kinds made me want to go into a helping field and learn more. After graduating from East Carolina in 2014 with a Master’s in Social Work, I quickly found a clinical position completing psychological assessments in a psychiatric office in Eastern North Carolina. From there I gained immense knowledge on diagnoses and clinical technics in working with patients in both an outpatient and inpatient behavioral health setting. From there I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina and worked with primary care settings in providing short term therapy with patients referred by their provider. There I learned how important Gut Health is at all ages and how connected our body and mind are.I believe that “when you live healthy, you feel good,” and encourage others to consider their diet as part of their mental well-being. I then got a job working for the military, providing therapy for active duty and their families in Germany.

My style of therapy is rooted in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy which is in the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy family. Our thoughts affect our feelings and affect our behaviors. If we change our thought pattern, we can change how we feel and how we behave. In therapy, we will work together on identifying negative thought patterns in hopes of making a change. Along with REBT, I use other behavioral theories to help support, such as Strength Based Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Every session is different, depending on where you want to go. It won't always be easy, but putting your health first is always worth it, and I’ll be here to support that.
