About me

Every life has a story. How you tell that story, write that story, and think about that story has a profound effect on how you cope with, live through, plan, and experience your life. Using techniques from narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, collaborative problem solving, and trauma informed care, I strive to help each client to see the hope and bravery in their own story while coping with the stressors of their unique situation.

My specialty is working with trauma survivors, especially those experiencing post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety. I am trained in TF-CBT, an approach specifically designed to help survivors of childhood sexual assault. I also have experience facilitating a support group for LGBTQ young adults, and have supported many individuals through the coming out process.

In the past, I have worked in various settings, including courtrooms, shelters, residential facilities, and outpatient counseling centers. I have a good understanding of the challenges families and individuals face when dealing with stressful situations and systems.

Mara is a wonderful counselor. She understands my issues and makes me feel like everything I am experiencing is a normal part of the human experience. She has the expertise to identify my conditions and give them a name, which makes them less scary.
