About me

I'm currently not taking new clients since I am experiencing a significant crisis. I will be back online in a fee weeks.

Hello! My name is Mara and I have years of experience in helping people sort through the things that seem to cause concern or otherwise create barriers to life satisfaction. I use aspects of multiple modalities including ACT and DBT to move through acceptance and view things from the dialectic and opposite perspectives (think "camera one, camera two") and use a distinctly person-centered approach that gives you the space to create your counseling with me, not the other way around. I've come to realize that every person ultimately has all the answers they seek inside them and as such I am here to help you find those solutions. Counseling is, in my view, really about needing someone who can bear witness and support you as you process and work through your unique and personal concerns. In our work we will focus on the areas you are struggling to manage and find ways to move forward in your life with clarity and purpose.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Mara Owens. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Mara is the bestest. If you have a neurodiverse brain, a propensity to swear, and a queer background this lady is for you! She is extremely perceptive, kind, and incisive in all of her observations while letting you drive the ship. She's the coolest and I wish everyone had one of her.

I think Mara is an excellent counselor, especially for those who are a little nervous about approaching counseling. She is professional, personable, empathetic without any of the sort of condescending nature that those in better places typically have. She is also quite proactive; providing weekly homework and/or positive actions one can take to try out during their week. The following week, she remembers what has been said before and follows up with inquiry.
It's been a wonderful experience so far. I would recommend her work to any looking for similar help.

Mara listens and cares deeply for her patients, I found having her as my counselor to be very beneficial.
