About me

Marcia Seeberg
LMHC

I am a mental health counselor licensed in Florida since 1993. I worked as a counselor with adults, teens, families, and groups in private practice for almost 20 years and as a counselor for medical, dental, pharmacy, and nursing students for 7 years at the University of Tennessee. In addition I taught behavioral courses for dental students, teaching the expression of empathy, active listening, and compassionate, effective communication, which I believe are my greatest skills as a counselor.

My counseling style is multifaceted. The choice of model or models is dictated by my client and his or her issues, individual history and personality. The approaches that guide my counseling include cognitive behavioral, humanistic, family systems, rational emotive, and EMDR. I find EMDR to be an exceptionally valuable tool for trauma of any kind. I have experience with anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHA, sexual, physical and emotional abuse, PTSD, LGBTQ issues, marriage and relationship issues, parenting, domestic violence, grief and loss, addiction, and students stress and test anxiety.

I look forward to meeting you and developing a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, supportive, empowering and healing

Marcia not only felt like an anchor who kept me grounded while exploring my darker inner thoughts, but also a friend who listened with compassion and saw my strengths and encouraged me to lean into them. She helped me identify my own truths and separate them from my conditioned traumas, which has been the most liberating experience for me. I am so proud of my own identity now because of the self discoveries I have made with Marcia’s support. Also important to note is that she helped me understand and love my identity as a woman and the unique way we perceive the world, each time offering feminine insight into the way I am perceiving my relationship/interpersonal conflicts in life. Additionally, she was great at mapping out the details of my history and connecting the dots between my past and present fears. She provided anecdotal reference points that I will always remember to find perspective through out my life.

I’ve been working with Marcia for a little over half a year now, and have made more progress with her in improving myself than in-person therapists I’ve seen in the past. I truly appreciate her insights, honesty, and sincerity. I feel lucky to be working with her and am pretty confident she is helping other people make a difference in their own lives, too.
