About Me

Hello! I am happy that you are here. Counseling is a great first step to help making life changes. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State. I have over 10 years of experience working with individuals of all ages. I have provided therapy for a wide range of issues including treating Depression, Anxiety, family and parenting difficulties, stress management and addressing life changes. I have extensive experience in the treatment of trauma including all forms of abuse.
Sometimes people come to therapy and aren't quite sure what steps they would like to take to make changes. That's ok! My goal is to help you identify the changes that need to be made and how to implement strategies to achieve those necessary changes. This can include a variety of different methods and I use a trauma-informed eclectic approach in my therapy practice. These approaches can include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and include Mindfulness Practices. Our treatment direction will focus on your needs and goals and we will create a plan to best accomplish this.
You can contact me anytime through Better Help. I check messages 2-3 times per day, every day of the week. I offer messaging, phone and video sessions as well as live chat. These can be scheduled to fit your needs. I may have availability outside of my current calendar so please contact me to discuss. I look forward to our work together!

I’ve just started working with Margaret. However I’ve done therapy before and know better to say that Margaret is extremely responsive, she cares to a point of referring you to another practitioner if you aren’t in the line she specializes, and she has a lot of insight. Margaret is intelligent and attentive. Her warm personality is a must in this career as well.

I owe Margret a lot. She has helped through a lot, I’ve accomplished so much and continue to everyday. She has helped me through things I don’t think I could have done on my own. I really appreciate her and how much she has helped me. I would recommend her to anyone.

Best therapist I’ve ever had, hands down. And I’ve had a lot.

She has been wonderful in helping me process parts of my trauma and response to triggers. She really knows her stuff!

Working with Margaret has been a pleasure. She has been very thoughtful and patient with me during my therapy journey and never pushing to speed up the the process. Talking to her over the phone has been very easy since she has such an approachable and warm personality. I also love the fact that she educates me a lot on different psychological concepts that have been foreign to me in very understandable terms. This therapy journey has been very scary for me because I'm not used to opening up with anyone in this way. However I'm so glad that I am able to go through this journey to being a better, healthier (and more healed) version of myself with her professional help.

Margaret Gibb has been a wonderful counselor. She’s been informative, gives feedback which I feel is important, listens to my primary concerns and pays attention while reading between the lines - noticing other concerns while I’m talking. We are piecing things together and I am very happy with my sessions.

Since I had past experience with counseling Margaret was very concerned about what had worked well or not well in the past. She has focused on exactly what I wanted to and I really appreciate her approach.

My experience with Margaret has been very good. The most important thing to me is that I feel comfortable with my therapist and that I can open up and share my feelings with her without worrying about being judged. Margaret is kind and approachable, she listens and offers helpful advice, and I trust her in guiding me through working out my issues. Thank you so much for this experience.
