About me

My name is Margo Claybrooks. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland. I have a master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University, Brooklyn, NY. I have been working in the mental health field for over 3 years. I have worked with clients suffering from anxiety, depression, bipolar, adjustment disorder, trauma, co-occurring disorders, as well as severe disorders like schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. I've serviced clients in school settings, out-patient clinics, intensive outpatient clinics, and in-patient crisis stabilization centers.

I have a non-judgmental and collaborative style. I maintain that therapy should be an authentic experience, and that client’s need to be heard, valued, and understood is primary to my practice. Although I trained under several therapeutic approaches, I primarily treat clients using both a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) approach. However, other approaches may be used depending on the individual I am working with. As the therapeutic relationship progress, we'll work together to find what works best for your therapeutic goals. I operate from an insight-oriented therapeutic stance as I deem change that happens inside-out to be most lasting; while at the same time encouraging outside-in changes that can be used as a spring board to promote insight for an effective lasting change.

I believe the hardest thing to do is to ask for help, please note that I support you in your decision to inquire about therapy. I look forward to taking this journey with you.
