About me

Hi, my name is Margot Rittenhouse and I am an empathetic, empowering, and encouraging therapist, writer, and yoga instructor! I firmly believe that all individuals hold within them an incredible power to overcome even the toughest of challenges and live purposeful and joy-filled lives. I am passionately fueled by the desire to help others find the power within themselves to feel, process, and solve whatever life may throw their way.

I have a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). My primary theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), however, I am well-educated in all theoretical orientations and make adjustments based on client need. I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Traumatic Stress (SPARCS). My approach is empathetic and goal-oriented and my specialties include eating disorders, body image, self-esteem, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, trauma, teenage trauma and counseling, emotion dysregulation, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and substance use disorders.

I am also extensively trained in mindfulness skills and include these in my work with clients, as I find it has been hugely transformative for clients to practice accepting and existing nonjudgmentally within the present moment while simultaneously working toward change.

Your courage brought you to BetterHelp and my page and I am immensely proud of you for taking that step. I do not have a magic wand or pre-written solution for the challenges you face but I am confident we can work together to help you cultivate change and transform your life.
