Mari Flatt

(M.A., LPC)

About Me

My name is Mari Flatt and I have been working in mental health counseling for about five years. During this time I have worked with many individuals struggling with a wide variety of issues such as; depression, anxiety, PTSD, stress management, grief/loss, ADHD, relationship discord, family conflict, and trauma. When working with someone on an issue that I may not be very familiar with, I educated myself on the topic so I can provide the best level of care. I am currently licensed in Colorado, North Carolina, and Tennessee. I have worked a good deal with children, trauma victims (specifically domestic violence and sexual assault), and most recently military and their families.

My counseling style is warm, empathic, and non-judgmental. I believe in meeting clients where they are regardless of success or set-backs and celebrating those small victories and providing encouragement along the way. My counseling approach combines person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and solution focused techniques. I will, however, tailor my counseling approach to meet your specific needs.

Getting started is a big step and can sometimes seem overwhelming, but I am here to provide you support and motivation along the way! I look forward to working with you on a healthier YOU!

Reviews

Written by B.O. on Jan 26, 2019 after counseling with Mari for 2 weeks on issues concerning relationship issues, and intimacy-related issues

Mari is very understanding and easy to talk to. She doesn't judge and makes me feel respected and my thoughts valued. She feels like a good friend I'm talking to. She also comes up with different ways to help me with my situation. I really appreciate her guidance.
