About me

Hello!
Welcome to the BetterHelp community! My name is Mariann Mamberg, and I have practiced in New York, Florida, New Jersey, and currently licensed in Georgia. I graduated Ithaca College with a B.A. in business in 1978 and worked in the business world, but I found it to be unfulfilling. I realized that my true desire was to help people emotionally rather than financially. I returned to graduate school in 1989 and graduated with a M.A. in social work from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has been practicing for 21 years. For a couple of years after graduation, I worked with adolescent substance abusers. The following year, I worked for Hospice in New Jersey, and then I worked for Senior Directions for 2 years. In between working for Senior Directions and Hospice in Florida, I was a stay-at-home-mom with two daughters, one in middle school and the other adopted from China at 9-months old. For about 5 or 6 years, I worked at Hospice in Florida. After moving to Georgia and being a stay-at-home-mom again for a few years, I began my private practice. My main focus is working with individuals who are experiencing grief, loss, bereavement, depression, relationship issues, and life changes.

My approach is client centered, and I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness Practice, and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). All of these share the goal of changing patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind difficult events and ultimately change the way you process new situations. I believe that the important part of therapy is to focus on the present and move forward as opposed to staying stuck in the past.

I want to commend you for reaching out for help, especially during this prolonged period of isolation, loneliness, and anxiety. You don’t have to suffer; reaching out is your first step into living a richer, fuller, and more empowered life. Together we can do this.
