About me

Hi! My name is Marie. I am a Bilingual (Spanish and English) LPC (licensed professional counselor) in the state of Texas and a CCTP (certified clinical trauma professional). Have over 12 years of experience working in the mental health field in a variety of settings including Crisis Management, Community, Outpatient, and In-home Services. Throughout these years I have gain experience in a broad range and severity of clinical issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, dual diagnoses, autism (mild, moderate, and severe), intellectual disability, ADHD, among other mental health and developmental conditions. Have also vast experience helping family members, caregivers, and parents of people who are struggling with different mental health, medical conditions, addictions, or intellectual disabilities, including parents of adopted children and foster parents.
I use a Holistic, Person-centered approach in counseling. This means that you are the center of this process, and together we will tailor the treatment goals and approach based on your needs, meeting you where you are right now, and helping you get where you want to be. I mostly use evidence-based techniques including Motivational Interview, (CBT) Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Family Systems Theory and Solution-Focused Counseling, however I also use some coaching techniques when needed, that will help you identify your goals and tackle your personal challenges in very dynamic approach.
I would describe my style as warm, personal, and supportive. I start by getting to know you and understand the situation through your eyes, because you are the expert in your own life and story. I believe that this is your journey, and my role is to collaborate with you on establishing concrete goals and the steps that will allow you to overcome the challenges you are facing. Seeking for help is never easy, and I acknowledge your effort to create a better life for yourself and those around you. I would love to be part of your journey towards a more fulfilling life. Looking forward to work with you very soon!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Marie M. Estela. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

There are not enough positive things that I could say about my current experience with my counselor and unfortunately I wasn’t ever able to say that in the past with any of my previous experiences. This counselor is absolutely wonderful and even that is an understatement. In addition to being personable, understanding, helpful, and kind, I have felt myself blossom since working with her. I feel more strong and empowered, able, and self aware with her knowledge, exercises, and expertise. My panic attacks and anxiety have become manageable in a way that I never anticipated or knew was possible. Working with this counselor has quite literally changed my life and I am truly grateful.

During the 3 months of counseling with Marie, which began because I needed help to deal with my adult sons schizo-affective disorder. She has been amazing. She is kind, caring, listens attentively, asks questions, gets to know you and your situation. She has helped me learn how to handle life's issues by categorizing and realizing what is and what is not in my control. She replies to my texts in between sessions, has given so much information, and tools to use in my daily life. I have gained so much from our sessions that I know will benefit me for the rest of my life. I highly recommend counseling with Marie. It has made a huge difference in my life, and I am so grateful for her help.

Marie was able to identify the core of my issue within our first couple sessions together, and has been successfully guiding me towards solving it since then, suggesting additional resources, complimentary to our sessions when she felt that could help. She's very supportive and listens to me, keeping the focus on the therapy objectives I have set for myself. She replies to most of my journal shares between two sessions, giving me further guidance and accompanying me outside of our session time.

Marie has been very supportive and helpful. She has respond to most of my journals and even gave me things to think about, and questions to answer outside of my therapy session which has been very helpful in finding myself. Marie listens attentively and reiterates what she has heard to ensure she heard and understood correctly what I have expressed. Marie uses positive encouragement and is very polite. I definitely am comfortable with her and would recommend her to others.
