About Me
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California (LMFT) and I have been licensed for almost 12 years but have worked in the field much longer. I have experience conducting individual, family and group therapy, both residential and in-patient settings with clients presenting with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, teen specific concerns, and a wide range of challenges including trauma, abuse, mood disorders, adjustment issues, personal growth and crisis.
One of the most important building blocks for growth in therapy is the relationship between the individual and the therapist. We all experience difficult times in our lives. Therapy offers a safe, honest and nonjudgemental space to gain insight into our experiences. It helps us identify problematic life patterns, and find constructive ways to move forward. My approach is different with every individual, depending on their specific needs. Our problems and feelings are unique and I want to approach my sessions as a team. I believe in creating a space where we can have difficult conversations, work on resolving issues and collaborate on treatment goals that are tailored to your personal needs and experiences.
I mostly tend to draw from the client-centered approach when in a therapeutic relationship with my clients but also incorporate a solution-focused approach that incorporates a variety of psychodynamic and evidence-based therapies from cognitive behavioral therapy to faith based.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Marie Svard. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Marie is so great. She listens actively and gives me things to work on and improve my ability to be self sufficient with the things I'm dealing with. She genuinely cares. She is fantastic.
I love Marie, she has opened my eyes to a pattern I've been through and helping me overcome any obstacles.
Marie is a really supportive therapist. More than just support, she truly listens and methodically identifies strategies to try to work through issues. She is very positive and skilled at shifting conversation about something really heavy into a healthier perspective/approach. She is really good about normalizing things that I sometimes feel are specific to me, which makes me feel less alone. She also checks in and remembers to discuss multiple issues that I'm struggling with. Overall, I really think Marie is the therapist I've most connected with out of the therapists I've worked with, and I can tell she really cares about her clients.
I never thought therapy was going to help me. Marie made it easy and it is helping a lot.
Marie is very talented at picking up on patterns and helping me work through them towards my goals. She does so with compassion and imparts me with a feeling that she generally cares about my well being as an empathetic professional. I’m doing great work with her.
