Dr. Marilyn Parker, LPC
About me
Greetings!
My Name is Dr. Marilyn Parker. I am an LPC-S and NCC, holding counseling licensure issued by the states of Texas and Louisiana, a doctorate in professional educational leadership, and a master’s degree in counseling. I have 13 years of counseling experience working with children, adolescents and adults with varying concerns. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including anger management, depression, family and marriage conflicts, grief and loss, parenting issues, career guidance, and crisis counseling.
I am an experienced counselor who has served in private practice, hospitals, and public school settings. I am an active listener who serves as a solution-based partner with my clients as we address concerns that are presented. The primary theoretical approaches that I may draw from to provide direct counseling services are Humanistic Approach (to provide client-centered therapy to positively establish the belief that he/she is in control of their own destiny, defining life with an understanding of free will, self-determination, and responsibility), Cognitive-Behavioral Theory (CBT) (to focus on thinking that can change feelings and behavioral responses to situations), and Psychoanalysis Theory (to analyze relationships to encourage healing by revealing and treating underlying or existing issues).
If you desire to begin a journey of exploring healthier living, I am eager to partner with you in the journey!
