About Me
Welcome to Wellness! It is amazing that you are ready to begin, continue, and/or modify your healing journey. I am Marisa, an Ohio native. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Great State of Ohio and Georgia. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the illustrious Clark Atlanta University. Then I received my Masters' degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Substance Use Disorders from John Carroll University. I have worked in the hospital emergency departments, outpatient treatment centers, private practice, mental health clinics, and a comprehensive addictions counseling center. I have much of my 9+ years of experience in this field in various settings as a student, case manager, Chemical Dependency Certified Counselor Assistant, Intensive Outpatient Program Coordinator, Group Counseling Facilitator, Employee Assistance Program Counselor, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
During my studies, I was afforded the opportunity to be a part of the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) Minority Fellowship Program in Addictions Counseling. With this program, I participated in a national effort to help ensure the behavioral health needs of all individuals would be met. I have been an active member of the American Counseling Association, Ohio Counseling Association, Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, Ohio Association for Multicultural Counseling & Development, Ohio Career Development Association, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Issues in Counseling of Ohio.
I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families – adolescents and adults dealing with depression/mood disorders, anxiety, trauma/abuse, addiction and substance use, divorce, infidelity, family conflict, relationship issues, self-harming, suicidal ideations, and grief. Additionally, I work with clients on career/professional explorations, self-esteem/self-confidence, coping skills, life transitions, and everyday issues through my private practice Wallace Wellness Center, LLC (wallacewellnesscenter.com). I make a conscious effort each day to live with compassion and a genuine sense of self. My professional goal is to continue increasing awareness surrounding the importance of Mental Health and helping clients create lives with meaning and purpose.

Thank you
Marisa has helped identify the inconsistencies in my priorities and goals. Her warm presence helped me to open up.
Marisa turned my life upside down in a good way! I realised that there is so much I need to learn and how important is it to listen to yourself and to be kind to yourself. I was really lacking that.
I cannot express how thankful I am
She is a good listener, easy to talk to and she gives great feedbacks.
Marisa is great. She really poses some good questions and makes me think.
A very positive eperience
Marisa is always able to help me. I appreciate her support.
I find my therapy experience with Marisa to be so beneficial. I am gaining insight and tools to manage my life better. Marisa listens uninterrupted and asks deep questions. She offers me exercises and has just made receiving therapy feel like a regular experience. I feel like I am getting care I should have gotten a long time ago. I find her wonderful and I am very thankful for Betterhelp. The ways to be able to communicate and schedule is great!
I was VERY skeptical going into therapy online with a mental health professional that I didn't personally vet. However, Marisa has surpassed my expectations of even an in-person/local therapist that I would have selected for myself.
She's incredibly knowledgable, resourceful, warm and offers gentle directness that helps me see things from a different perspective. I deeply value these characteristics as they've helped me make some incredible strides towards my personal goals in such a short amount of time.
I sincerely appreciate that in my time with Marisa, she provides resources (worksheets, infographics, journal prompts, etc) to deepen my understanding and internalization of key concepts covered in our session. They really help guide my thinking and healing process between sessions.
5 stars...highly recommend...throwing flowers. Thank you, Marisa!
Marisa is very helpful towards me and she understands my situation
Thank you for saving me a little with each therapy session. Thank you for listening and taking your time when responding. Thank you for never rushing me.
