About me

CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR LIVE VIDEO CHAT. If I had a mission, it would be to get people to stop beating themselves up. From an early age, we all seem to have developed an inner voice that says, "You shouldn't feel that." "You shouldn't think that." "You shouldn't say that." "You shouldn't do that." I am not sure where it comes from because we all seem to have a degree of it. But we can stop it. Not only are we not as bad as we think we are, we are better, stronger, and worth more than we can imagine.

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with ten years experience assisting a variety of people in a variety of situations. Most people that arrive in my office have some degree of anxiety and/or depression--and these are usually very appropriate responses to the significant stressors in their lives at that time. Others are more prone to anger and panic. There are many tools and approaches to such issues. My therapeutic style could be described as an eclectic mix of cognitive, psychodynamic, mindfulness and hypnotic approaches to mood and behavior. No two people are the same, and so we explore who and what we are dealing with first, and then what works. My work also extends to couples and family relationships in which the same principles and approaches apply.

My aim always is to create an atmosphere of respect, acceptance, and non-judgment. When my clients are comfortable, when they are sure they are being heard and not judged, wonderful things can happen. Find out for yourself.

I am still in the early stages of our counseling sessions but thus far I have found Dr Gemmell to be a kind listener, and a calming presence. I appreciate the opportunity to explore counseling online as I was never able for a number of reasons to involve myself with counseling in-person. I look forward to our future sessions as now I am hopeful that I may overcome some burdening issues in my life.
