About Me

It is such a healthy step that you are taking by seeking help – and I am honored that you would consider me to provide you support and guidance in overcoming your challenges.

I firmly believe that every individual has the capacity and the right to a healthy, fulfilling life – and all of us at some time or another run into roadblocks that can keep us stuck, overwhelmed, worried, depressed, anxious, sad, exhausted – well, you get the idea! Any myriad of feelings can get in the way of us experiencing life to the fullest and sometimes we need an objective person – someone who will provide their expertise and knowledge - to give us the support and guidance we need to tackle our challenges and move forward.

I am a California Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field and I am here to assist you to build on your strengths and gain insight and strategies that will give you the energy and skills to take the next positive steps in your life.

It is supported by research that the most powerful factor in the process of emotional and psychological healing is the alliance/bond between the client and the therapist – rather than the therapist’s theoretical orientation or techniques employed during a therapy session. I have experienced this both as a therapist and as a client, and therefore I don’t get too hung up on theory or technique when working with a client. With extensive training, education, and experience in psychoanalytic, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and mind-body connection (I am a Certified Bioenergetics Therapist,) my work is grounded solidly in these theories and I draw upon them as I see appropriate for each individual's therapy. I believe that as long as the therapeutic relationship between the individual and the therapist is trusting and meaningful, the therapeutic modes/techniques will flow seamlessly out of the work - and will always be geared to the individual's abilities, motivation, and goals.

I am an empathic nonjudgmental therapist and I really like working with people who are seeking changes and/or relief in their life. My style with clients ranges from supportive guidance, to advice, to respectful directives. I like to bring humor and compassion to the therapeutic relationship.

If you think that my style, experience, and knowledge sounds as though it would be a good fit for you, just click on the button “Work With Me!” – and let’s get started!

Thank you,
Marlene Mills-Margesson, LCSW

Marlene has a warm and gentle approach. She genuinely listens to you and formulates achievable and reasonable strategies to try to help you reach your best and healthiest self. Even when talking about difficult aspects of your life, Marlene manages to make things light and more manageable, both in the moment and when back in reality. It’s like talking with a good friend who has all the credentials. I’d highly recommend Marlene to anyone needing assistance.
