About me

Hello, I am Dr. Marlo D. Mathis, a Nationally Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), enjoys working with children, families, and couples. I have a BBA degree from the University of North Carolina- Charlotte; graduated from Emory University Candler School of Theology and received a Master of Divinity (MDIV) degree; Masters of Community Counseling from Argosy University in 2012 and a Doctorate of Ministry (DMIN) in 12/2015 in the area of Mental Health. I am a GA State- Licensed Professional Counselor and an ordained minister. I am a certified Prepare-Enrich facilitator and Certified Suicide Prevention (QPR) facilitator.

I have worked in the field of counseling for the past 16 years in the area of Mental Health for 4 years with experience in IFI and Core Services; conducting individual, family and group therapy; providing comprehensive assessments, community-based psychiatric treatment, and support to persons with serious and persistent mental illness such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar & Major depressive disorders, ADHD, Conduct and Oppositional Defiant Disorders. I have provided Pastoral Counseling for over 14 years in the area of relationship building, marital and pre-marital; depression, grief and loss, crisis intervention/suicidal issues etc.; family transitions and anger management. Dr. Mathis therapeutic modality includes Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Family systems. I serve as the Leader of Pastoral Care Ministry and has conducts Mental Health Forums for the congregations, schools and the community. I oversees the following areas of Pastoral Care for the Church, Baby Dedication, Pre-marital Counseling, Funeral, Weddings, Hospital and Home visitations and providing resources for members and community.
