About me

My undergraduate Degree is in Physical Education/English from the University of Texas/Arlington. I taught High School English and coached women's Volleyball, Basketball, Track and Cross Country before completing my Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Texas/Denton. I find that my teaching and coaching experience has greatly enhanced my skills as a counselor/therapist. I connect easily with people and gain their trust rather quickly and am able to teach them and motivate them to become their very best.
I have experience working with Military personnel and their family members as a Department of Defense Counselor and as a Military Family Life Counselor.

I have experience working with substance abuse having provided counseling for persons ordered to treatment by the courts.
I have been providing counseling services for over twenty seven years both in private practice and as a full time employee, first with Dallas County Probation, then Department of Defense, then MHN as a consultant with the Military community.
I have a very eclectic approach to therapy. I have to see what the client resonates with then offer that for them. I believe every person deserves to be safe and happy and i give my very best to help them achieve this.
Because I have done a lot of trauma work i do a lot of work around the inner child. When you are raised in a dysfunctional homeor have experienced abuse and/or trauma the inner child, the keeper of the feelings often shows up to add a wrinkle to your present life. It is necessary to connect with the inner child and do some healing work in order to be happy in your present life. Sometimes it is hard but the end result is a completely happy person, comfortable in their own skin and in control of their emotions.
