Martha Furman

(M.Ed, LPC, CAC)

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor having experience dealing with parenting issues, single parenting, depression, anxiety, job stress, marital issues, relationship stress, and addiction. I am also a Certified Addiction Counselor.
I have 15 years experience treating Individuals and couples. I also have in the last four years, been working with military members and with their families. This is a special population with their own unique culture and challenges. It has been very rewarding.
I like to work with people who are really invested in working on doing things differently. Often times making any kind of change is better than repeating the same behaviors. I am very good at being concise and direct and work best with people who like this approach.
I have been a single parent and I have gone through the loss of someone very close. I am now a grandmother. I feel I have a good deal of life experience to call upon and have dealt with people from all walks of life.
I am always honored to work closely with my clients and amazed at their honesty and resilience.
I am looking forward to working with you.

Her experience and education were evident as she is able to read a situation clearly but she is also a kind person. I greatly appreciated her help and I was lucky to have her as my counselor. Martha is an excellent counselor. She is very attentive, listens to what my needs are and stayed focused on the goals we set forth. She helped me through a difficult time and am grateful for the relationship we have developed. I would recommend her and BetterHelp for counseling services.

She has been a great help. She’s always offering her expert advice and ways to help. She’s always staying active and if she hasn’t heard from you in a day or two, she will ask for an update, which lets you know she cares.

Martha has been an incredible resource during my time with BetterHelp. Aside from being a fantastic listener, she has offered great tips, advice and resources to help me with everything. Down to earth, always asks how I'm doing to kick off our calls, and very responsive. So thankful for her!

Martha is wonderful! She is clear, concise, and direct. She gets right to the heart of the matter and is respectful and offers tangible solutions. It's clear her many years of practice have gained her valuable insight into human nature. She even has a sense of humor, which I found very important and helpful! She is so easy to talk to.

Martha Furman is a very caring and knowledgeable therapist. While she keeps encouraging me to try new positive behaviors she doesn't make me feel guilty if I cannot manage something or a certain approach doesn't work for me. The level of contact she maintains is excellent.
