About Me
I am an older therapist. Counseling is my second career, and I have provided counseling for the last seven years. I have brought to therapy the wisdom, empathy, and experience that my years have afforded.. I have an extensive academic background in both philosophy and literature including a Ph.D. in humanities and an M.A. and completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. except a dissertation in philosophy. I have been a University-level professor for many years, teaching in the area of literature, particularly women’s studies, minority literature, disability literature, children’s literature, the literature of adoption,
The therapy I undertake will be collaborative in nature. Clients know their lives the best. I will listen attentively and empathetically and will not exert judgment. I will help to facilitate productive change in the direction and areas in which the client desires. The personality, desires, and concerns of the client will dictate the techniques employed. I hope to help the client be the best version of him/herself.
Additionally, when the situation warrants it, I will employ elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and existential therapy. It is my belief that no theory fits all cases, and the individual’s life and situation will dictate the techniques employed.
d literature and ethics.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Martha Satz. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Martha is measured and compassionate. Calmly asks questions that help you understand yourself more. Offers advise and strategies that are solid and easy to apply to your specific concerns.
When I started therapy, I didn't really know what I was looking for. Over the last few weeks, Martha has been incredibly helpful in listening to my concerns, and more importantly, in helping me to sort out my goals and get my life moving forward again. Highly recommended!
