Mary Colman, LCSW
About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 15 years of experience working with adults individually and in groups. I have worked in community-based mental health settings in three different states. Over the past 3 years, I have developed my practice conducting virtual therapy. I’ve grown to see this as a valuable and necessary form of treatment. I have treated individuals with a wide range of diagnoses and challenges including depression, mood disorders, anxiety, grief and loss, interpersonal difficulties, and trauma-related symptoms.
My therapy approach is holistic. I fully believe in the benefits of processed-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Mindfulness is also a major element that is interwoven throughout my treatment. I completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher training. I incorporate and believe in the importance of somatic interventions. I've also completed a certification in Nutritional Psychology and use these theories and concepts in my therapy practice.
I have completed over 50 hours of trauma-specific training. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level I and II. I recognize the impact that trauma has on all humans. I am trained in and have taught Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills for over 6 years. I recognize that DBT Skills are helpful for many individuals.
Most importantly, I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is a vital element of therapy. I focus on building a trusting, beneficial relationship above all. This enables me and my clients to be honest and genuine, which helps facilitate real change and progress in therapy.
