About Me

My name is Mary Magdalene Smith and am known as Magdalena which is my middle name in Spanish. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Life Coach in Texas. I have been a Counselor for 41 years. My counseling style is primarily person centered and I am a good listener, culturally sensitive and very supportive of the client and of their Counseling goals. Though I have extensive experience working with men and women, I am currently focused primarily on working with women with the goal of Empowering Women to Be The Best they Can Be. My approach is primarily using concepts from positive psychology, utilizing a strengths-based approach which is shifting the focus from what's wrong to what's strong, identifying one's goal and the Limiting Beliefs that are keeping the individual from reaching her goals, and identifying and owning the Empowering Beliefs that will assist the client to reach her goals. The goals may be for example to overcome childhood trauma that may be causing depression, anxiety, poor self esteem, poor self confidence, overcome grief or wanting to improve one's relationships, grow in one's spirituality, or reach one's career goals, etc. As long as the goals are realistic and the person is committed to do the work I am willing to support you in exploring the best way to reach your goals.

You can send me a message here at any time and as often as you want, though I typically check and respond to messages once or twice a day, in the mornings and evenings, Monday through Thursday. You can also schedule a live session (phone call, video session, live chat) with me on the Scheduling section. If you don't see a day/time that works for you there, please let me know and I will try to accommodate you.

I have just started with Mary and I feel it in my gut that she understands what I am trying to accomplish and overcome and with her help as well as her faith with God will help me get to where I want to be mentally and spiritually!

Mary is exceptional not only in her deep experience and intuitive observations, but also in her ability to truly listen and connect the dots of what is happening inside of a person. She is keen-minded and professional alongside being warm and supportive. I have thoroughly enjoyed my sessions with her and strongly recommend her if you are seeking this rare combination of qualities in a counselor.

The reason I decided to go with her was because of her experience and her profile. I believe that a good therapist needs years of experience to give accurate feedback to their clients and she has been really helpful to me.

Mary Smith is very thoughtful and a great listener. I can tell she has a lot of experience dealing with many situations and people, which gives me comfort. She always stays on track with my concerns and goals, and always offers relavent suggestions and tools to help me to conquer issues. I definitely recommend Mary Smith to anyone who feels stuck in their toxic ways formed by difficult past experiences, but you want to overcome. I believe Mary has the skills to help someone who really wants to change for the better.

I've only completed one session, but she's incredibly prompt, empathetic, encouraging, affirming, and insightful. I really appreciate being able to counsel via chat... it's like journaling with a wise friend giving feedback.
