About me

Hello! You want to talk and I want to listen. Together we will examine your reasons for coming to therapy and decide on a plan to address them. You are in the drivers seat. I am here to help facilitate change.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 15 years of experience in counseling. I have worked in the mental health field for 20 years in hospitals, offices, clinics, nursing homes and the emergency department. I have a wide range of expertise. I work well with people who are depressed, anxious, have experienced trauma, have health concerns, are aging, who have relationship difficulties, trouble communicating, life stress, doubts about their faith, work issues, trouble with drugs or alcohol, school problems and those seeking purpose or meaning. I am comfortable with your pain and I am here to help.

In all of my years as a social worker I have learned that while I know about how to work through difficulties, each person has their own story, there can be no assumptions. That is why I use a highly collaborative approach. I employ Psychodynamic Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Brief Therapy, Existential Therapy and Mindfulness. If you are unfamiliar with these treatments I will explain them and we can decide what we try together.

I am dedicated to authenticity, transparency, honesty, building trust and sharing what I know. I’m dedicated to your wellness, present and future. It takes courage to do what you are doing. I would be honored to walk with you. Let’s start your better tomorrow today!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for MaryLu Olson. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Best experience I have ever had in therapy. MaryLu has a wealth of experience and insights and clinical knowledge, as well as compassion and understanding and counsel/ advice. I feel like she understands exactly what I am feeling and going through. I feel understood, supported, reassured and encouraged. I feel more confident in my ability to interact with and interpret my conscience and my inner voice, and how I use them to navigate my emotional world. Thank you, Mary Lu.

She is the first person to actually help me through the struggles I am facing, and to be complete up front and honest with me! She has been super helpful and has gone out of her way to support me!

She puts the same time and attention into helping me through whatever crisis I'm having small or large. It's easy for me to dismiss a thought or feeling as insignificant and therefore to not want to bring it up. But, whatever "small" thing happens to be on my mind, she's always supportive and helps me sort it out.

Marylu is perfect.
She’s understanding, non judgmental. She even interjects her ideas that may be helpful regarding your situation. I love it because I can express myself and emotions to her. Instead of leaving them all bottled up
