Hello! Thanks for considering me for your counselor--I am honored. I have been a therapist/counselor for 29 years. I have worked with all kinds of people, with many different concerns and needs. I am Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I obtained my MA degree from DePaul University in Chicago. I have worked for several non-profits, and in private practice, in the Chicago area, and in Quincy, IL. I believe that the most importnt factor in counseling being helpful is the therapeutic relationship between the person seeking help and the counselor. You need to find someone you feel comfortable talking to, who respects you, who listens to what you are saying, who validates your feelings, and who provides support, encouragement, and hope that you can move forward in your recovery. You may be feeling "stuck" right now. I beliee that anyone can make positive changes. One way I can help you do this is to help you to set some short and long term gols that you want to work on. I often say to people "We can't change the past, but we can change what we do about it." This idea gives me hope that we can all move forward, and that even though change may be hard, we can do it, and it is worth our time and effort.
Over the years, I have worked with people with day-to-day stress, mood changes, mental health concerns, addiction issues for themselves or family members, and people undergoing some changes in their life situation. This can be due to illess/injury/disability, financial problems, career changes, relationship changes, and lifestyle changes. I have also worked for many years with people with brain injuries, both traumatic(TBI) and non-traumatic(aneurism, tumor, stroke, etc). Change can be difficult, even changes that others consider positive. I am an interactive therapist. I don't just provide "talk" therapy. I ask questions, give information, and provide feedback. I also provide resources through BetterHelp and the Internet. I want to get you motivated and excited about the future, your future, and to help you make it the best it can be!

Great therapist. I'm happy so far and can see improvements. It's useful to have a therapist somewhere that listens to you and tries to provide you with the tools that aid your path - whatever you're doing.
For the brief time we have been engaged she has enabled me to feel better when I needed it most. I cannot thank her enough and I hope to have a long and productive association with Marysue.
Marysue has a healing, comforting energy. She's making me see the rational side of things and she quells my anxiety. Thanks Marysue!
I have been working with Marysue for a small bit of time, she seems to understand what I need. She gives me attainable suggestions, and I really enjoy her personality. I really feel she wants to help and she gets back to me. I feel really listened too... Thank you
I've loved and enjoyed my experience with Marysue! She was caring, loving and most importantly fun to hang out with. Our calls always meant a lot to me, and helped me understand a lot more about myself then I did before coming here. Hopefully I'll be paired with her again, if I need counseling in the future.
Marysue has been wonderful. She is kind, supportive, & extremely knowledgeable in her field. She provides an open & a safe environment, making it easy to discuss any issues you are having. She never rushes you, & truly wants to help you. I have really enjoyed my sessions, & plan to continue my treatment with her as long as needed.
